it's tuesday which means it's 52 paintings day. because i've ran out of decent greeting cards (i do have a lot of sympathy cards) and the stores are closed due to the lockdown, i've been painting cards the last couple of weeks. great for the people who received them as they are quite thrilled, but not good for my hands as the blank cards are small (5x7s) thus i need to use smaller and shorter brushes which weaken my wrists and i'd have pins and needles which are hard to get rid of. what i decided to do was paint a couple of cards then have them printed and i can just stick the prints onto the cards.
a long time ago, the wife of my boss in oman, who was japanese, taught me how to make ikebana flower arrangements. i cannot do intricate ikebanas like she did but i can do simple ones. when i came to canada, i used to impress people who would come to my apartment and they would see my simple handiworks. this trio of anthuriums was inspired by one arrangement i've seen on the internet but i had actually done a similar one a long time ago. aha! there's another expensive hobby, flower arrangement. but i will leave that for when i can no longer hold the camera. one of these days, i shall paint the bamboo itself.
good news! i started and finished my tax returns today; tomorrow, i shall finalize it and send it off to claim my not-too-shabby refund. once i started it i couldn't stop and if it didn't cloud over at sunset, i'd have totally finished off the bloody thing.
When I first saw this I thought the Anthuriums were real! An excellent painting and a nice accompaniment to the bamboo! I canât wait to see your painting of that!
Dear me! I thought you have 2 plants - well... bamboo and the arrangement! Great!
Good thing you finished the taxes. I was becoming unpatient. I would have had to get a visa, a plane ticket and so on to visit you in jail... :)
