for week 51 of the 52 captures challenge, the challenge is "imitation" where we get to imitate another photographer's work.
i am a big admirer of @northy's work and tried to emulate her shots a few times. it's not easy, mind you. we've gone on several photo sojourn and shot the same subject most of the time but her perspective is always different. her processing is enviable and she makes it look so easy. and her grasp of lighting is just plain encroyable. the lady is a genius, i tell you.
so i tried to emulate this photo of hers https://365project.org/northy/365/2021-12-14 and no matter what i did, i couldn't come any closer. her style is all her own and i'm very proud to know her and be friends with her. someday when she becomes famous i can demand free tickets to her exhibitions. 😜
p.s. it is said that imitation is a form of flattery. however, in legal and copyright parlance, it is a form of plagiarism. now i'm going to jail. 🤣
While no one's work can ever be completely copied I feel certain you have come as close ans anyone could to getting her style! Aces, to borrow a phrase!
Well I think perhaps you did ok, the lighting is fabulous 😍. Northy does love a Gaussian blur to take away that glorious sharpness of your composition.
As you say, and Katy said, aces!!!
