it broke so it's no longer useful, after probably having been useful for a time. the wind is cruel with these folding umbrellas and most times they are discarded and abandoned right then and there. i wonder if the former owner is a proponent of the climate change movement.

Why can't people pick up and dispose of their rubbish appropriately. I guess this could have been blown out of the owner's hands and they weren't able to get to it for one reason or another.
Abandoned, tossed, littered! Hope Kathy is right that it was just blown away and they couldn’t retrieve it! It makes me angry that people just trash up our beautiful earth.
I feel it might have still been able to get the person home in better shape than with no umbrella at all. Of course, as the others suggested if it was blown out of their hands that’s another issue. You have a good eye for spotting, interesting things to photograph on your walks.
