I"m not sure how far I'd be going for a Sunday drive in this buggy, back in the day. These days it's sitting in a field at the in-laws house. No clue as to age ... any guesses?
It certainly looks old. Nice shot. I like the perspective from behind. There is nothing in this to say that this is from the year 2011....kind of a cool thing.
I would say early 1900's as well. It looks like a doctor's buggy without the top or what I've heard called a piano box buggy. I have an early 1900's doctor's buggy that looks a lot like this but has a a top that can be put up or down.....a convertible :). LOVE this.....it breaks my heart to see them sitting out, just falling apart as a yard ornament though :) Did they ever use it? Do you know how it came to be in the field?
Great capture!! Love this old stuff!!
I would think it dates back to the late 1800's. What a great shot. I think it would be so cool to go for a ride in that. Great shot thanks for sharing that with us
@mwarren365 I think buckboards were long, flatbed wagons, for carrying supplies.... This one here is like the sports car of the wagon world. Haha! I wonder what is it called...I am curious now. I faved the pic! I can just feel like I am back in the past, before all our modern day conveniences.
Anne, you minx.. this is gorgeous.. I love the look of that solitary carriage in the great outdoors and the angle you shot it at ..wwwwwoooowww.. Love it!
Simply fabulous find, and right in your in-laws yard! I love historical fiction and books, so my best guess is turn of the century, some time between the late 1800's and early 1900's, but I'm leaning towards the latter because of the sleek design.
I would say late 1800s. We have a photo of my husband's great grandfather in a similar type wagon pulled by a horse. How neat that your in-laws still have this antique memoir.....what a great photo!!!
Great capture!! Love this old stuff!!
