A Sunday Drive by sunnygreenwood

A Sunday Drive

I"m not sure how far I'd be going for a Sunday drive in this buggy, back in the day. These days it's sitting in a field at the in-laws house. No clue as to age ... any guesses?

Many thanks for dropping by.
It certainly looks old. Nice shot. I like the perspective from behind. There is nothing in this to say that this is from the year 2011....kind of a cool thing.

It's a classic, that's for sure!

Very pretty shot and such a cool looking buggy. That's neat that your in-laws have it in a field at their house.

It reminds me of something from the Little House on the Prairies books I used to read to my kids.

What a great find, makes for a great subject in your composition. (I wouldn't know how old this is, looks like late 1800s??)

@mimigd yes, i was thinking along those lines in terms of age. thanks for dropping by!

it's very old for sure - would NOT be a comfortable ride, that's also for sure! ;-) Looks to be in great shape, too!

How Interesting - love to know its story!

Cool capture. Would it be classified as a buckboard? I haven't shopped for different model in awhile.

Wow, very cool! I like it a lot.
November 10th, 2011
Wow...what an interesting find. If only it could tell stories from its past. Well done.
November 10th, 2011
Guessing, I would say early 1900's...but what a set of wheels!!
November 10th, 2011
precious memories

I would say early 1900's as well. It looks like a doctor's buggy without the top or what I've heard called a piano box buggy. I have an early 1900's doctor's buggy that looks a lot like this but has a a top that can be put up or down.....a convertible :). LOVE this.....it breaks my heart to see them sitting out, just falling apart as a yard ornament though :) Did they ever use it? Do you know how it came to be in the field?
Great capture!! Love this old stuff!!

Gorgeous! I love the composition and the subject! It looks in good shape. It makes you wonder who owned it and where they traveled. :0)

Splendid Shot! Love the old and nature! Great find, Anne!

I would think it dates back to the late 1800's. What a great shot. I think it would be so cool to go for a ride in that. Great shot thanks for sharing that with us

great shot......don't imagine it made for a comfortable Sunday ride but it was all they had......would love to try one someday!

Wow, your photo takes me back in time, nicely done!!

@mwarren365 I think buckboards were long, flatbed wagons, for carrying supplies.... This one here is like the sports car of the wagon world. Haha! I wonder what is it called...I am curious now. I faved the pic! I can just feel like I am back in the past, before all our modern day conveniences.

I don't know but it's really terrific. They have a room full of these at the agriculture building at the state fair. All different ages.
November 10th, 2011
Wouldn't that be fun to hitch up a horse and actually go for a ride?
November 10th, 2011
Great shot--a fav. Love the old buggy just sitting in a field. Nice composition and detail.

Simply fabulous find, and right in your in-laws yard! I love historical fiction and books, so my best guess is turn of the century, some time between the late 1800's and early 1900's, but I'm leaning towards the latter because of the sleek design.

Nice shot, looks great in the field like that, it looks good shot from the back like this :)

This has a really Olde Worlde feel to it...
November 10th, 2011
I would say late 1800s. We have a photo of my husband's great grandfather in a similar type wagon pulled by a horse. How neat that your in-laws still have this antique memoir.....what a great photo!!!

Very cool - there are two carriages like that on my street. :)
November 11th, 2011
Wow! That's an old one. It looks so fragile and too small to fit very many bodies. Beautiful capture of something quite unusual.
November 11th, 2011
Wonderful shot. Love the feel of the past.
November 13th, 2011
i think some time traveller might have left it there in the middle of the field. love this composition; it stirs the imagination.
