Each week a group of us meet at a private home/farm for a yoga class. After the session this week, we took a couple of minutes for a quick tour of the farm yard. One of the cool sights was this young hen. She is a Mille Fleur D'uccle --- a chicken breed originating in the Belgian town of Uccle. "Mille fleur" is French for a million flowers, referring to her colourful feathers. Normally this breed has a very sweet disposition, however this particular little one was just acquired a week or two ago and had not yet settled in to her new home, hence her tentative stance on the very highest perch in the hen house. She really didn't want visitors, let alone have her picture taken ....
Many thanks for dropping by. Thanks for all your very interesting comments on the buggy pic yesterday. I hope to get some more info on the buggy and If I'm successful, I'll share it with you, along with a pic to show you what it looks like in the snow.
Instant fave for me, Anne! I love chickens and this one is such a beauty. It took our newcomer a month to feel at home. Until then the other ladies completely shunned her. Hope this gal fits in easier.
Anne.. she is adorable.. and if you don't mind I wanna show my daughter-in-law your pretty girl.. my daughter-in-law is at 14 and growing with her brood. Love the colors on this girl!!!!! Nice shot..
If chickens can be gorgeous, this one is. Beautiful capture of an unusual bird. I have never seen one like it and I have been around chickens in my past life.
