Front Step at Night by sunnygreenwood

Front Step at Night

The Christmas bows still hang from the lights on the front step. It's been cold and I haven't got around to taking them down. It seemed fitting to get a shot of them on this snowy night.

Many thanks for dropping by.
Nice snow shot! The ribbon adds a nice pop of colour.

A couple years ago we were having an extra rainy dark winter. I took the Christmas lights out of my dining room window that January and when I saw how much gloomier it was, I put them back up and they never come down

This picture would be a great shot for your next years Christmas cards

Oh, you are enjoying ( ! ) the snow too.
January 22nd, 2012
hope you don't make your visitors sit out on that chilly bench before you let them in
January 22nd, 2012
Reminds me of a gorgeous silent night scene. Gorgeous lighting and beautiful composition. I say "leave the red up there" for awhile. It suits the weather and the time of year.

What a welcoming sight on a snowy night - how did you manage to capture the snow falling? I've yet to learn how to do this

January 23rd, 2012
Great capture of the snow flakes. Beatufiul shot.
January 23rd, 2012
Cozy, beautiful! No footprints, how did you get out of the house? Let's sit on your bench and sip tea.
January 23rd, 2012
@carmichaelbev haha, bev, you're so observant! there's actually another door that's not in the pic - just a tiny tip of the handle. a tea would be great!
January 23rd, 2012
@rosiekind thanks rosie! i appreciate your support. this was just a point and shoot. my camera will only allow me to adjust one setting per shot, so i rarely play with that. the snow flakes were very big and falling slowly, which helped.
January 23rd, 2012
Neat shot and very Christmas Card like.
January 23rd, 2012
Beautifully composed
January 23rd, 2012

January 23rd, 2012
Lovely atmosphere in this photo :)
January 23rd, 2012
This shot is soo gorgeous, Anne. That red scarf (!) is so contrasting with the outside scene.
January 23rd, 2012
@jenrobcarr i'd be sitting inside by the fire too! ;-)
January 23rd, 2012
Maybe you should leave the bow up all winter. It adds such a nice welcoming touch to the snowy scene. I can just picture y'all by the fire inside. Pretty shot, Anne.
January 23rd, 2012
Beautiful shot, Anne - love the way you captured the snowflakes!
January 23rd, 2012
Lovely snowy shot, don't blame you for not getting them down, not only do they look really pretty but it looks freexing out there!
January 23rd, 2012
I love the snowy night scene! It a New England tradition to leave wreaths and bows on the doors long past Christmas to brighten the winter landscape. I think you should pretend you live in Vermont and leave them up.

Oh, and I meant to tell you, Steve won Scrabble last week by four or five points. I slayed him this week, by like 40 points. Then he challenged me to a second game and won by about the same. So he is still ahead! Men!!!

the ribbon looks pretty in there, at least against the dreary drab winter colours. maybe leave it until spring. wonderful shot, anne.
