Some of you may remember the little video with Reba, our 6 lb Maltese on squirrel patrol last winter. As effective as she's become over the years, Kala, our 8 month old Shepherd pup has become quite good at it too. No squirrels are injured, other than their pride.
Many thanks for dropping by. I'm glad you got a chance to see how pretty it can be here in the dead of winter. Thanks for the lovely comments and favs.
@timandelke thanks Elke! She's not fussy about the big birds like blue jays and mourning doves but doesn't bother much with the little birds. Also, there's two sections of deck with a cat walk in between and there's usually seeds on both sides so if she's on one side, the big birds still come to the other side. The seed is SO expensive this year. The bag we paid $22. for last year is $37. this year. Yikes!
Kala has grown so much and wow, she's gorgeous! And she looks like she's taking her job very seriously. I've really been enjoying your winter series immensely. Sorry seed has gotten so expensive!
now we know the secret to your incredible bird shots, the 2 dogs keep the squirrels from eating all the bird seed. I'll have to teach my 2 :) Great shot of Kala!
So serious she is with this (probably) full-time job. Squirrels and bird feeders go hand-in-hand. Nice picture. I have enjoyed your winter shots, and I'm hoping you have enjoyed my sunshiny ones at the opposite end of the weather spectrum. :D
Kala is beautiful! That's really high for bird seed. My stepdad buys the sunflower seeds. I think he pays $25 for it. My poor little birdies have to eat the budget seeds. :0)
