I recently participated in a 4 day long bird count and it increased my appreciation for the variety of birds around us. My new challenge is to see how many different species I can get in one pic. The Jays and Woodpeckers are here in great abundance and don't bother each other - the Jay tries and Woody just ignores. The Chickadee moves so quickly they're not bothered much by the other birds either. So ... this is probably the easiest trio to capture, in our neck of the woods anyway.
My first thought was beautiful capture, Anne. My second thought was, they are so much like people . . some are very content to get along and otheres are a little pushy, etc. VERY interesting study you have there.
Great idea! Maybe we should get a "Lifetime Birders' List" and start keeping track. I think the local Audobon Society sells them. I bet I'd be shocked at how many different species are in our yards.
that must be quite difficult to get more than two different ones in a shot. but knowing you, it's probably peanuts. you'll ace it, anne! i love this shot. i think when the grands are around they'd love to feed the birds while i shoot. :-)
you must live in a beautiful place........are you out in the country a ways? are those birch trees? i love birch trees!
sorry, i'm supposed to be looking at birds, but i can't help but take in the whole scene!
This is wonderful. How great to capture 3 different species in one shot. It looks like there is a bit of a pecking order. Hope the chickadee gets his share!
@karens68 thanks karen! my husband puts the seed out first thing in the morning. if it's extremely cold or snowing heavily, he puts more out mid morning and/or early afternoon. for the last week or two, i've been putting out a handful of peanuts for the jays ... the peanuts disappear in seconds!
I love see three different birds together, Anne! I was wondering if they ever did that, and now you've shown me they do. My husband bought a new feeder and a second suet container. He's addicted!
