Standing Still

We watched this heron watching us for about 5 minutes and he/she hardly moved a muscle. It was the tallest one we've ever seen. Yesterday's pic will put it in better perspective to give an idea of the grand height.

Leaving the camera with the nice zoom at home and walking with only the iPhone camera will almost guarantee seeing something like this!

Many thanks for dropping by.
A gorgeous setting, and I have found here it is very challenging to capture one of these guys, at least close because they are so nervous.

Oh no! Left your good camera at home heron sighting! I feel your pain. On our dock, I sit with camera in lap ready. Then...put it down to help hubby with a fishing rod while he is catching a fish on another rod, or have the card out loading pics on my iPad....guess who does a fly by? Heron! Argh! But this pic you took is great too! It is like he is one of the tall trees! Fav for me! Thought it came out great!

Why does this always have to happen. Stunning shots like this always come when you are least prepared. He looks very huge and majestic.

He is standing very tall...maybe hoping he can see an end to the ice on the pond!
