@roseolivia Thnak you Rachel, yes you can walk or drive on ice, there are ice roads on winter between different islands and yes fishing can be done too.
@susale I remember when I went to Muhu that they said you could drive over but it just sounded so scary! Still would love to try it and would so love to go back there...
@taffy Thank you Taffy, acrtually it´s the sea. The Baltic sea does freeze at winter time if it´s cold enough. And yes, Finnish summers aren´t always very warm but at least the sea isn´t frozen then, lol
@cocobella It´s the sea actually, The Baltic sea does freeze. @channelf@rachelwithey Yes the Baltic sea is no Atlantic ocean, it does freeze. We had -15C in average for few weeks but now it´s not that cold anymore.
@joemuli Thanks Joey, it is cold, very cold and the icy cold wind blowing from the see does make it even more colder -you can´t take pics like this without freezing your fingers.
@taffy Yeah, it´s a lot of ice indeed, of course the ship lanes are kept open with the ice breakers so there´s still a lot of traffic at the Baltic sea during the winter time too
I can't believe what I'm seeing! Thanx so much for sharing...I hope you have some of those gloves where just the tips of your fingers peep through! Does your camera ever fail to shoot in these temperatures?
Noooo, too cold, I didn't realise that part of the sea froze, always thought it was restricted more to north america ans the artctic. Really hope you get some warmth soon. Beautiful photo and bizarre seeing sand next to ice
@ericdibosco Thank you Eric for your comment, actually I havem´t got those kind of gloves, I shot this with bare hands...this and couple of more, then I had to put my gloves back on cos they were practically nunb. I have never experienced any failure to shoot during these temperatures but I suppose it´s possible if the camera is kept in these temperatures long enough.
@ingrid2101 Thank you Ingrid, yes it freezes but then again Finland is pretty close to the North Pole. Yes there´s plenty of room at the beach now, for some reason, lol!
