Before we came to live here, never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine we'd live somewhere where we had woodpeckers in the garden all year round. I never, ever tire of seeing them, and hearing them. I wish we could upload video clips because he was making the most amazing noise. This one is a male because he has a red patch at the back of his head.
Great capture - they are voracious feeders in the breeding season and get quite grubby as the summer goes on. We used to have them quite often until the squirrels took over the peanut feeder
@virtualbrownie Thank you VB. The squirrels can be a problem. We've gone to great lengths (and expense) to make sure the bird feeders are squirrel resistant. We would certainly rather have the birds.
@foxes37 Thanks Lis. Actually I quite like the idea of a bird photo book. I did think that I should put my bird pictures in a 'bird' folder. That would be a start.
Amazing .... looking forward to seeing more wildlife shots . Your garden visitors are so varied and don't seem to mind having their photos taken .... or are you in camouflage !
@lynne53 I dress up as a bird!! Thanks for the nice comment. I'll try and take more wildlife pics especially for you Lynne. I obliged with the fireplace didn't I?
@craig3f2 Thank you Craig. Yes we are very fortunate to have an amazing number of birds in the garden and in the local area. I do enjoy going to other places as well and seeing completely different birds.
@pamelaclarke Thank you Pamela. I will try and get photos of Mrs Woody and Master/Miss Woody (I won't be able to tell the difference between Master and Miss). That's a challenge I've set myself.
