Update

I'm so sorry about my long absence. First of all I just want to say thank you so much to all of you for your good wishes. I really, really appreciated them.
I think I'm doing ok, well physically anyway. I seem to be gradually making progress although I don't know the benchmarks and I don't have anything to compare with. I'm able to get about on my crutches without too much trouble. Mentally though I'm not doing great. I've been feeling very down. I just hate being like this. I hate not being able to do anything and to always have to ask for help. I know I can't rush things and I know I have to do exactly as I'm told otherwise I could damage the new hip but it's very frustrating. I have to use two crutches for 4 weeks, then one crutch for 2 weeks. After that I can drive but I still can't bend down for another 6 weeks!
The family were all here last week and it was lovely. Perhaps that's why I feel so down now.
I have to say a big thank you to Nick @nickspicsnz for her message today. It made me pull myself together and stop feeling sorry for my self, take a photo and do this post. Thank you Nick.
I have taken a few photos in the garden over the past week and my son and daughter took lots of the grandchildren which are now on my computer so I'll definitely post a few each day.
It's good to be back.
Good to see a photo from you Sue, but sorry to hear you're struggling with your confinement. After 6 weeks with my damaged ankle, frustration of not being able to get out & about has been my biggest hurdle !! But go easy for now, take good care & sit and plan a huge itinerary of places to go for when you are fully fit again x

So wonderful to see you back - so sorry that you are feeling rather low I know how frustrating it can be when you you are held back from doing the things you previously were able to do -- be patient my friend -- just think of the advantage to be pain free and fit as a fiddle in few weeks time be patient allow yourself to be spoilt -- take care --hugs xx

Good to see you back! It must be very frustrating but in a few weeks you will reap the benefits.

Sounds like you're doing really well Sue, and each day you're getting that bit closer to being fully mobile again. That's what I keep telling myself anyway! It is frustrating, and having to ask to help all the time has been the worst thing for me too, but I have enjoyed the extra time I've had to notice all the little things around the garden instead of feeling I should be working in it all the time (today's post aside!!). And one tip - some pipe insulation taped around the handles on your crutches makes them a lot kinder on your hands :)

Glad to hear of your improvement.

Welcome back, so great you are home & doing OK. It is very hard to always ask for help when in this situation. Remember those who help also love you & will be so happy when you are "fit" again. Hugs to you.

I'm so happy to hear from you Sue. It must be really tough to be immobile when you're such an active person. Also, if you're normally quite an independent type it's difficult to accept help. But you don't need me to tell you that you must take things easy and do as you're told to ensure the best outcome. I'm glad you're back here. On sunny days you'll have to hobble outside and plonk yourself on chair somewhere (someone else can move the chair to your desired location, lol!) and take a few pics of your beautiful garden and views. Take care. x

So pleased to see you back! yes frustration is very difficult but keep in mind that's it's only temporary for some weeks, then you'll recover to a pain free hip that will let you go anywhere again :)

@dizzyd @beryl @craig3f2 @sallya @thresheg @alinz @opticlens @happysnaps @nickspicsnz @gilbertwood @g3xbm Thank you all so, so much for your wonderful words of encouragement and hugs and tips. I'm feeling better about everything and I feel motivated to do the things I am able to do. I'm trying not to dwell on the things I can't do. I'm enjoying being back on 365. I've missed you all.

Just seen your pic. I know you will make a good recovery, Sue. You are a tough nut. David had a hip replacement a couple of years ago. He said sleeping was most uncomfortable. But do follow the advice and then you will get back to normal soon. Bite the bullet.

I am pleased you are back and it is nice to know how you are getting on. It can be frustrating when you cannot do the things you want to do I experienced that after my opp last year. I expect having the family around last week helped to boost you. Start celebrating each little step forward you make and enjoy your garden.
