This bridge must be the most uninspiring bridge across the Thames. A photo of it needs to include the name otherwise you wouldn't know which bridge it was.
@thimblelady Thank you Gayle. Yes the original one is in Nevada (I've never seen that one). Apparently the guy who bought it thought he was buying Tower Bridge, or so the story goes. I don't know how much truth there is in the story but I guess if it is true he must have been very disappointed when it arrived.
@susiemc@thimblelady Just noticed your exchange about London Bridge, it actually has a history of more than 1900 years.
The first London Bridge was built of wood by the Romans, at least two more wooden bridges followed, before in 1176 the building of the first stone bridge was begun by Peter of Colechurch. This lasted for 600 years and was demolished in 1834; 3 years after the opening Renie’s bridge which was built a little further upstream. In 1967 -72 the present bridge was built and Renie’s bridge dismantled. I have vague memories of crossing London Bridge while this was happening. A little of Renie’s bridge can still be seen under the north side of this bridge.
