Thiepval Memorial Northern France by susiemc

Thiepval Memorial Northern France

In March 2013 (pre 365) we went on a WW1 Battlefield Tour of Belgium and Northern France. I was particularly pleased that the memorial at Thiepval was included in the tour because I knew that the inscriptions of my grandfather, Fred and his brother Georgewere there. We found their names, both carved in the stone and also in the memorial book. They were killed at the Somme within a couple of months of each other.
This seemed an appropriate post for Remembrance Day.
Very appropriate .

Interesting & fitting collage for today. The bottom l/h shot is a great composition.
I took some similar photo's to remember my 3 great uncles, when we went to Belgium last year.
