When Martha and I were in the Elan Valley I suggested we take advantage of the very dull, dreary weather by playing around with the settings on the camera to get the silky waterfall effect. We set the aperture at it's narrowest and I used a handy wall to rest my elbows on to reduce camera shake. I was quite pleased with the result.
Great shot, well done for trying different camera settings.

Nice result and good idea to try it on a dull day. Ive tried on brighter ones and found that I couldn't get to a slow enough shutter speed without over exposing or having to use a neutral density filter to reduce the light.
@dizzyd Thank you Helen. I am becoming a bit more adventurous. Martha is a good influence because being one of the younger generation she'll try anything whereas I'm a bit reluctant.
@gardencat Thank you Joanne. I have done this with a neutral density filter when I was on a photography course and was able to borrow one. The guy running the course explained about doing this without a filter using a narrow aperture and slow shutter speed but as you say it doesn't work unless it's a very dull day. I just set the camera to aperture priority, set the aperture to the narrowest setting and let the camera do the rest. I have to say it was a VERY dull day.

I'm going to be trying this type of shot this week (having received instruction 😜)
That's really nice Sue
