Green Garden

Not all of our garden is full of colour. This bit doesn't often feature on 365. There are things flowering but the overall impression is green.
Lovely shot. I bet you will miss this garden when you move....

Your garden is enormous Sue, it must be quite a bit of work? You could take a walk just in there alone!

Such a beautiful area of your garden full of colour tones of green , textures and shapes . Quite a bit of time and effort needed yo keep such large areas in trim ! , keeping it looking natural without growing out of hand !! fav

You must have a massive sized yard/garden. This is gorgeous I'm partial to green areas like this. Id love to sit at the table and read my book.

@dizzyd Thanks Helen. Yes we will but it's a lot of work because it's so big. It wouldn't be so bad if Chris didn't have to go to his 'day job' every day. He's looking forward to the challenges of a new (but much smaller) garden.

@happypat It's 2.5 acres Pat. I often just walk around with my camera when I need a bit of fresh air and excersise. It's an awful lot of work though for Chris and it stops us doing things at the weekends in the summer when everything's growing so fast. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have to do his 'day job'. he's looking forward to his new, smaller garden.

@beryl Thank you Beryl. Yes, it's getting the right balance that's tricky.

@carole_sandford You're right Carole, it is huge, 2.5 acres. A lot of it is 'wild' but even so the rest of it is a lot of work. We will miss it because it's like a nature reserve but it does take up a lot of Chris' time, especially in summer, and stops us doing things together.

@susiemc wow that is a massive garden Sue! I can understand why you want a smaller one. We have around the same acreage here but mostly lawns & a oaddock so Harry happy mowing two or three times a week in summer, it's a big like Blackpool tower you no sooner finish that the first bit us ready again but not as hard work as proper gardening!

@happypat You're right Pat, it is massive. I guess in the old days there would have been a team of gardeners instead of just Chris who also has a full time job. He has enjoyed the garden and is very proud of how it's changed and how much he's achieved since we moved here 18 years ago. The neighbours tell us that until then it had been neglected for 50 years. Now it's time to hand over to someone else. By the way, did your family persuade you to give up doing B&B? I know you really enjoy having guests but believe me you'll enjoy not having them even more.

@susiemc Well I'm still doing it Sue, I have four in this morning for breakfast but am definitely winding down. I think the next year there will be big changes but not sure yet just what. The trouble is I still really enjoy doing B&B but the body is getting reluctant! I am picky who & how many I take now & if I don't like the sound of them I say no! 😀 I do enjoy it when I have no one in but I also think it keeps me fit & I do like a bit of a spend in the clothes shops! 😍

@happypat It's good to pick and choose your guests, I definitely did that and this year it was mostly regulars. I know what you mean about a bit of spend, we couldn't afford to stay in this house without the extra income from B&B because of the heating and the upkeep so that's another reason for moving. I will miss the regular guests, although tomorrow I'm going to spend a couple of days with a very good friend (you'll see photos) and she and her husband started out as B&B guests!
