Berrington Hall

This is a National Trust property near Leominster, Herefordshire where I went with Emily and Oscar last October half term. The stone wall going across the bottom of the picture is a ha - ha. I wonder how many of you know what that is.
We were only talking about a ha ha last week to my son in law, he would like one but my husband didn't know what one was! That is quite a shallow one!

Were they originally dug out to stop the grazing cattle going on to the estate house gardens ?

An impressive building. The ha ha will keep the enemy at bay won't it and stop them invading, or maybe it is just simply to stop the farm animals from grazing.
