Today I had to go to Llanidloes in Deepest Mid Wales. I had a bit of time to spare so I walked by the river.
The river Severn is Britain's longer river at 354 Km (220 miles) long. Llanidloes is the first town on the river, 17 Km (10.6 miles) from it's source on Plynlimon, the highest point of the Cambrian Mountains. The river eventually flows into the Bristol Channel forming an estuary 8 Km (5 miles) wide. At Llanidloes it is a mere 13 metres (14 yards) wide.
I discovered that it's possible to walk to the source, which is marked with a post, from Llanidloes. I'd like to do that one day.
Lovely view of the Severn at Llanidloes or Llani as we called it . I haven't been to Llani for years . In our early married life , we would go there quite frequently and bought quite a few of our furniture in the Hafren Store , Hafren = Severn in Welsh ! We would then go over the mountain road to Dylfe and down to Llanbrynmair , my parental home ! Thanks for the memories Sue
@beryl I’m pleased it brought back happy memories Beryl. It’s a beautiful area. Most of the furniture in our house is from the Hafren furniture store, it’s a wonderful place and I was in there this morning 😁.
