Colchicum Autumnale by susiemc

Colchicum Autumnale

Sadly not in our garden. I photographed these at Hergest Croft yesterday. They're never at their best for very long and usually I miss them This year I was lucky. We have tried growing them but they don't seem to like our garden.
A common name for them is Autumn Crocus but they're not actually part of the crocus family, they just look a bit similar.
Funny, I was going to say that they look like the fall equivalent of the crocus. Pretty colour and nice detail in the petals.
