After waiting for almost exactly a year I finally had my cataract operation. Chris took this photo just after I came out of the hospital. I'm posting this a day late because this all happened yesterday. I came home feeling battered and bruised and I couldn't see very well. Today I feel much better and my vision is gradually improving.
Glad all went well - take care and here's wishing you a speedy recovery! You will be able to see more than you can get now - beware of going to any garden centres too soon! -Ha ! xx
I’m surprised you didn’t have dark glasses on, they sent me home with a pair even on a cloudy day in January the a fortnight later when I had the other eye done. Did they do both of yours at the same time?
@illinilass Ah yes Dorothy, my dark glasses were in the car. I was on my way to the car when I asked Chris (my husband) to take a picture and boy was I relieved to get those dark glasses on. They only did one eye, the other eye does have a cataract but in the early stages. The eye with the early stage cataract is very weak, it’s a “lazy”eye which wasn’t picked up when I was young enough for something to be done about it so I’m totally reliant on the one which got operated on yesterday. Yesterday evening was a challenge because I couldn’t see anything through the eye which had just been operated on. Everything is much better today 😊.
Good to see you, Sue! So glad it's over for you! Each day will get better and better! (I'm not speaking from my own experience, but Carolyn has had this procedure- twice, on each eye) I hope your healing moves along quickly. Take good care!
Hope you steadily improve over the next few days. David has to go to the eye specialist next Monday. He will need cataract surgery soon I am sure. He is dreading it.
I had a macular hole repaired a few years ago and the op was 2 hours under a general anaesthetic and months later I had to have a cataract removed as it was a side effect of the original operation. The surgeon at Addenbrookes was amazing and he gave me a lens implant to my other eye so that they would match. It has made such a difference to my life
