My Crop of Winter Squash by susiemc

My Crop of Winter Squash

It amuses me when people say they grow their own veg to save money, these must be the most expensive squash in the world judging by the amount of compost, manure, plant food and water that I've used throughout the growing season 😂. The same goes for all my veg. I just enjoy growing them and eating them.

The stripey ones are Zucca Tonda Padana (the large one weighs 4.5 Kg / 10lb),
The silvery/pale green ones are Crown Prince,
The yellow ones are butternut squash and the dark green ones are acorn squash.

It's not a great harvest for the number of plants I had (and the amount of effort I put in!!) but it's been a poor year for growing veg - too cold. The courgettes and beans did better.
Lovely colourful harvest

Well, if you can’t justify the time and effort by ‘savings’ How about freshness and knowing what has and hasn’t been used on them?
