I took this while walking on the cliff top path when we were in Pembrokeshire.
I don't know whether this will be one of last year's chicks or this year's. I don't know when they get their adult plumage. Does anyone know?
Very nice action shot; impressive! I have a hard time telling the age of birds while in the field, but plumage is a fascinating subject. As I understand it, Herring gulls take 4 years to get their full adult plumage ...Small gulls take 2 yrs; medium take 3 yrs; and larger gulls take 4.
