I took this yesterday at Llangorse Lake. It must have escaped from an ornamental collection at some time or other. It's the only one on the lake. It seems to be halfway through changing it's plumage from breeding to eclipse (winter/non breeding) because it's neither one thing nor the other. It seems quite happy with all the other ducks so it must not realise it's different. There is also a lone mandarin duck on the lake at Llandrindod Wells.
