Greater Spotted Woodpecker (Female)

Because of the miserable weather we've been having for quite some time I haven't taken any pictures of birds for ages. It wasn't raining today so I was determined to go out into the garden after lunch, with my camera. I was VERY pleased when Mrs Woody appeared.
Fantastic shot, I would be thrilled if I could get a shot like this.
Instant fav.

Pin sharp brilliant. B&B mid Wales do you have Kingfishers, Barn owls or Otters locally. If so you could have a visitor or two. Let me know

@padlock Thank you Padlock. There are definitely kingfishers and otters in this area but I'm still trying to find them myself. My attempt at a kingfisher http://365project.org/susiemc/birds-and-other/2015-10-05 was taken at Rainham Marshes RSPB reserve. If you stayed here at the right time you would definitely see spotted flycatchers, pied flycatchers and redstarts, among other things, either in the garden or nearby. Many of my pictures in this album were taken either in the garden or not very far away. Apart from birds, this part of Mid Wales is a photographers paradise. (See my other album for some examples)
