Two years ago I saw a redpoll for the first time. At that time here was only one on the bird feeder. Two years on and we have three. I think redpoll just pass through. They don't seem to stay around for long. This is another bird which I will strive to capture in a more natural setting.
This time of year it's extra fun to have a feeder as you get to see some new little guys just passing through. It is always a struggle for me to catch them away from the plastic feeders. Mostly, the best I can manage is to put some seeds in places that are less obvious feeders. like a stone bench or a small cup or plate.
