Collared Dove

This is NOT in our garden unfortunately. I wish we did have a pair. I think they're such gentle birds.

This was outside the visitor centre at Rainham Marshes reserve.
We get these collared doves in our garden all the time. Before 1955 they were not known in the UK before they "exploded" westwards. I agree, lovely gentle looking birds. We also get FAR too many pigeons!

He is gorgeous, we get the occasional collared doves in our garden, but they have to compete with the lorikeets, kookaburras and lots of other birds. Unfortunately, they come far down in the pecking order.

@g3xbm We get peregrine falcons around here and I think they keep pigeon and sadly collared dove numbers down. I believe pigeons are their staple diet.

@onewing It must be amazing to have lorikeets and kookaburras in the garden. Whenever I hear things like this and see the picture of my 365 friends in Oz it encourages me to step up my 'Going to Australia' savings. We were there in 1994 and we'll definitely get back there one day.
