Awesome capture! I noticed the camera you used was a COOLPIX P900 what do you think of it, as I'm think of buying one but i'm not sure if to get this or a DSLR?
@bigmxx I understand your dilemma Michelle because I was exactly the same. I wanted a bigger lens than the one I had on my Panasonic Lumix FZ200 (which is an excellent camera and I use it a lot for flowers) but in the end I decided I couldn’t be doing with faffing about changing lenses. I’m very, very happy with my Coolpix P900. Quite a few people on 365 have one and they take amazing pictures. This helped me with my decision. If you do decide to get one I can recommend an excellent book which I found on Amazon which is really helping me to learn how to use the different features on the camera.
@susiemc Thank you for the information, my main reason from changing from my current bridge camera is to be able to take pictures of birds in flight, I tried a DSLR lens capable of doing this in a shop but I couldn't hold the huge lens for very long, so was looking for an alternative lighter one!
@bigmxx Its interesting that I went through all the same arguments and thought processes. I suspect that like me you’re unlikely to want to carry a tripod around at all times to cope with a big lens. I think the Coolpix P900 is a perfect compromise (that’s heavy enough!). I don’t think I ‘ve actually taken any birds in flight since I’ve had this camera but I have taken some quite acceptable ones with my Panasonic Lumix FZ200 and that has a smaller lens than the Coolpix P900. We’re going on holiday next week and there’ll be lots of bird photography going on so I’m really looking forward to trying different things with my P900. I’ll be interested to know what you decide to get.
