Guarding the Peanut Butter

This bird feeder is designed to hold a jar of peanut butter. The birds love it, especially the bluetits
That’s clever. Did you have that made ?

@phil_sandford @happypat We got the feeder and the jars of peanut butter from a company called Twootz but they don’t seem to have the feeder at the moment. I just looked on google and found reallywildbirdfood.co.uk and they have the feeder and the jars of peanut butter. Our feeder is just outside the garden room, literally on the other side of the window so we really enjoyed the birds up close ( if we sit very still).

@susiemc Sounds good, we might leave it until next year as we have loads & are moving out of course in January but will remember! Someone also mentioned the feeders on the window too...not sure about them...might make me jump!

This looks like a great idea, even more fun, I think, when it starts to get used up and the birds go in and out to get to the peanut butter.
Have you had any trouble with squirrels? I feel that, in my yard, unless there is some mechanism to keep them away the contents would not last long.

@susiemc Thanks Sue. I’ve heard of Twootz. I’ll take a look tomorrow at that other link.

@happypat The feeder isn’t actually fastened to the window, it’s on a wooden bit where the roof comes down. You can’t hear the birds 😁

@gardencat Yes Joanne, the squirrels do try and get the food but they’re not very successful. I think it’s really awkward for them. The magpies try their best and that’s very amusing to watch because they’re so big. They’re not very successful either.

What an interesting feeder. If the squirrels have a hard time then that would be good for my yard,....
