Today I got to imitate a classic painting for the 52 portraits of me challenge. I've been squished, my arm was cut off, resized, shortened then repositioned (numerous times), I cartooned myself, added bits on and took bits off, put a grungy layer on top and I'm still not really happy but enough is enough. I guess I could have just added my head to the original rather than completely removing her but that would be just too sensible.
Banksy's Balloon girl first appeared in 2002 on the wall of an East London printing shop. It was boarded up for over a decade and eventually removed and sold.
As always, thank you for your very kind comments, they are much appreciated. I've so many of your lovely projects to catch up with, I will try my best today.
That sounds like an awful lot of work! I quite like Banksy’s stuff. Was it in Hull where they vandals nearly ruined one recently? Have a fav for all your effort!
@carole_sandford Thank you Carole! The one in Hull was painted over within 48 hours! A window cleaner quickly washed it off and now its covered with perspex! Apparently there are another two in Hull but they've not been confirmed as the real deal
I love Banksy's work. fav
