St. Catherine's Castle Fowey by swillinbillyflynn

St. Catherine's Castle Fowey

This fortification was built in 1538 to house 5 cannon and provide protection for the town's of Fowey and Polruan against invasions from France. It continued to serve this purpose right up until the end of the Napoleonic wars in 1815.

Pressed back into service during the Crimean War and once again during WW2.

Let's just hope it can now enjoy many years of uninterrupted rest.
Bit like you then
