I remember when I was a kid, many moons ago, We used to play simple games like Ludo, Snakes and Ladders, and my favourite Monopoly. As I grew older I became a huge fan of Dungeons and Dragons type games, played the old school way with maps, pencils and paper, not on a games console.
They were interactive, in that you interacted with your friends and family rather than with a machine. They used real reality rather than virtual reality and as I remember, they were just as much fun as the modern computer games.
The biggest difference I believe was that we learned to use our own imaginations rather than immersing ourselves in someone else's....... and if we fail to encourage our children to use and develop their imaginations........ The world is going to become a far more dull and uninspiring place.
