You could try to crop this one into a square format. Also, the image works well in colour because there is a pleasant harmony of colours in the picture, including the background. However, you could also make a b&w version of it. That would then allow you to try a filter to further enhance the highlights and the contrasts. It is a great portrait as it is, I am impressed when I look at it because I can somehow feel who that person is now. There is definitely an emotional component which has been captured.

I had to edit out a folded up table and a pool cue from the background. I would have liked to have a darker background, but selecting the background while keeping all of Al's wispy hairs was more than I could manage.
