Monbulk Creek by teodw

Monbulk Creek

This is a part of Monbulk Creek before it flows into Belgrave Lake. There is a sign saying that platypus inhabit these waters but I wasn't lucky enough to see one.
Hard to imagine that we're a week into winter. Lovely bright greens.

Very pretty scene, Terrie! There used to be a family of platypus in the creek near where I grew up. Not sure of the plural of platypus? I'm sure it's not platypy :)

@tomtom Andrew, Andrew, Andrew!!! You just made me google to find the answer to the plural of platypus and according to the internet, (so it must be right), there is no universally agreed plural for platypus. So, if you want to call it platypy, that's cool with me! I did once see wild platypus in a creek in Queensland. It was awesome and unexpected.

When we saw them early this year we had to sit and wait quietly around sunset. As it got darker they came out and foraged in the water. That's a lovely scene.

@teodw I have had a rethink, and I reckon it must be platypi... with an I not a y. Or maybe platypusses? :)
