Oh no, he got me. by terryliv

Oh no, he got me.

Finally got some time this morning to have a go at capturing a White (or Sulphur Crested) Cockatoo in flight. It should have been easy but they conspired to make my life as difficult as possible. In the end I had a number of reasonable contenders for todays pic but went with this one. (Best viewed large)
Nice shot, good effort! They will eat your house......

@kporte A very friendly white cocky suddenly appeared at our place about 3 years ago and helped himself to the food we had out for the rainbow lorries. Within days, we had a whole flock of them hanging around. Even though we knew their reputation, we couldn't help ourselves and put more food out for them. At the time I made a comment to the kids that this whole thing was going to end in tears. 3 years down the track and they have behaved impeccably. Not a single demolition effort from any of them and they are here in varying numbers every day. In the meantime they have given us many hours of amusement and enjoyment watching their antics. So I honestly don't know what to think about it all now!!! Thanks for you comment.

@tellefella I was inspired by your shot although I must admit that it was against my normal reactions to pull the trigger when they started flying rather than release it.

I woke this morning to their raucous cry. Don't know what had them stirred up but they were at their best. Not a pleasant awakening. I admire your ability to capture one on the wing. Great shot.

@ubobohobo And that's another weird thing. We can go outside and there will be half a dozen of them hanging around the feed tray and we never knew they were there. Occasionally they will call out when they fly over

What a beautiful bird - and what a great shot of him in flight. Those wings are so clear.

Fantastic capture!! I envy you so, having these wild parrots as visitors to your feeder. I've had the privilege of fostering a pet Sulfer-crested. What antics that bird had. How I wish I could enjoy parrots without having to ever see them caged...

Ok - Thanks Terry. I live at Salisbury right next to Toohey forest, but have never seen any cockies up there. I am going to make a bird feeder and see what I can attract. Cheers, mate!
