Every night at 8 o'clock, the buildings on Hong Kong harbour put on a music and light show. The lights come from a combination of laser and building lights that pulse and change colour and design in time with the music. According to the Guinness Book of Records, it is the longest continuously running light show in the world.
Even without the show, the harbour is spectacular at night. Best viewed large
@jetpics HK is one of the worlds great cities and never ceases to amaze. So many people crammed into such a small space and yet something like 70% of the island is virgin bush. There is no such thing as urban sprawl. 20 and 30 level apartment blocks with bush at the front door. It is a very safe place and a wonderful blend of eastern and western cultures.
@tahoemb Thanks. At the risk of shooting myself in the foot, the light show itself is a bit of an anti climax. The lights emanate from buildings on both HK island and Kowloon and for the full length of the city so at any time you are seeing only a section of them - especially when you have a camera stuck in your eye. As said in the photo description, the harbour with the normal building lights is spectacular in its own right.
