We got the evil eye from our friendly butcher bird when we arrived home this morning. Don't think he was too impressed with having to fend for himself over the last two weeks. However he did show off their new baby for the season to us.

The butcher birds come to the kitchen window for a feed and I had been saving taking the shot until the day when I was totally bereft of ideas but given that we had just arrived home, it seemed an appropriate time to take it with the caption.
@lyndemc@milaniet The pied butcher bird is far and away the best songster of all Australian birds and may rival the best from O/S as well. They can sing solo but the best song happens when the hen and cock bird sing their duet. It is beautiful.
