I have been photographing this Eucalyptus Ptychocarpa just about every day since we came home and every time, something else has come along and bumped it off the 365 showing. I knew it was getting past its prime and it was today or never but it was overcast and not the best light to show it off. This is todays pic for todays posting but there is a previous one in Directors Cut.
How gorgeous! It's like a whole bouquet of fireworks.
Thanks for dropping in for a peek at my Momentary Thaw water droplet pic. In all honesty, I'm the weird one who actually likes winter and am thrilled every time I manage to get some snow. This has been the best winter in the 35 years I've lived in Illinois, USA.
@landownunder@gilbertwood@tracelee@leestevo Now here's one for you. After I posted the shot last night, I Googled it just to check on a couple of things and shock - horror, I discovered that in 1995, the Eucalyptus species was broken up and all the bloodwoods and many other well known Eucalypts including one of my favourites, E Tessalaris, the Moreton Bay Ash are now called "Corymbia". No Way!!!
@corymbia Hooray!!! I had just about given up on you. It was a bit of a cultural shock to discover they were no longer Eucalypts. Quite sad actually. The Eucalypt is so iconic.
