A couple of weeks ago I posted a very bad photo of a juvenile male King Parrot that was in the process of changing from his immature green plumage to his adult red chest and head.
Well today he returned and he has almost completed the colour transformation. Not only did he return but he now has a companion. See http://365project.org/terryliv/directors-cut/2014-04-26
We have only ever had no more than a pair of King parrots in the yard at a time. Today we had two mature cock birds and at least one mature hen bird in one of the trees. Then we got the two juveniles. WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@demelo to respond to your info. on my page re: retirement ,you are not the first to tell me how busy and wonderful it is.I can't wait because my job is getting really stressful.Thank you for your comment Poppo .
Wow lucky you to get so many king parrots in your garden. I have seen a few in bushland near to Newcastle, but none down here. So good to see a juvenile and good that he has a girlfriend too.
This calls for a celebration indeed! How wonderful that you have a number of these gorgeous birds now visiting your yard. Smart birds they are, figuring out where to come for the treats.
Thank you everyone for your comments. he is a fine looking rooster isn't he. An update on numbers. There is a tree just outside our kitchen window that is in seed at the moment. Yesterday while I was at golf, my wife counted 9 (that's NINE) king Parrots and 2 pale headed rosellas in it after the seed.
