Last night I agonised over which shot to post and this is the one that missed out. Thought I would show him tonight.
They are not the prettiest of creatures - in fact they are ugly bloody things.
For O/S 365ers (and Victorians), they are quite large. They can grow up to 23cm (9in) and weigh up to 1.8kg (4lbs). This one was not that large.
One of the things that has amazed scientists is their ability to very rapidly adapt to different climatic conditions. Despite the fact that they originated from the tropical rain forests of Central and South America, they have been found in Queensland as far west Windorah. Trust me, that is a pretty dry and god forsaken place.
About the only thing that they have going against them in Oz is that everyone hates them and hence there are no "Save the Cane Toad' movements.
Best (or worst) on black
We have never learned the lesson about transporting living things from one place to another where they have not natural enemies. And now they come on ships, etc. Plants, bugs, frogs. Sometimes I think they are more the terrorists we need to fear.
It's not too often that I hate someone's photo but sorry Poppo I hate the subject! Great photo though I have to admit, you've almost made him pretty... *sticks finger down neck*
@karlow75 My son (Maggie's Dad) gets a few over at his place. There is a school behind his house. The 7 iron is always at the back door. When he sees one, out comes the 7 iron and the good shot is to hit them over his back fence and land them on the school roof.
