While walking back to the car after taking my pics of the gardens on Saturday , this guy ran past me and I just caught a good enough glimpse of his face to see he was an old dude. I then noticed that he was a very fit old dude.
Jumped in the car and drove up ahead of him and took shots as he ran up towards me.
He was a bit miffed (have a look on his face in the front on shot) and stopped when he got to me. Had a bit of a chat and told him about 365. He posed for a head shot and off he went. He is training for some 160km run along an old railway track.
Now here is the big coincidence. His daughter Joanna Lane is a freelance photographer, website visited planet, and one of the things she is tied up with is a program to collect old digital cameras and take them to the poorer countries where they teach kids about photography. She conducts courses in the SE Asian countries What a brilliant idea and I have now found what to do with a couple of old has beens lying around the place.
My apologies but have been unable to comment or post for the past couple of days and still only have limited opportunity.
Great collage of this very fit "old dude"!! I am pleased he cheered up when you spoke to him. A lovely story about his daughter - what a great idea on what to do with old digital cameras.
Yeah, I bet he was wondering about your photographing him, but look how a little conversation smoothed things out and brought on a big smile from this charming fellow. Good for him, taking on such a lengthy race and good for you, daring to go for the shots.
Great collage and what a character he seems to be. Always good to have a chat to your photo subjects, you learn so much from them. How nice that you managed to talk to him. Lovely story.
