The aircraft carrier USS George Washington paid BrisVegas a visit from Friday to Wednesday for some R&R for its 6,000 crew. I went down to Luggage Point Friday evening hoping to get lots of lights from the ship reflecting off the Brisbane River but there were precious few.
@gigiflower Actually Sam it was nowhere near as big as I (and everyone else who saw it) thought it would be. Overall, it was a real let down. I was down there for a while waiting for the light to fade and you would see people come down, have a look, mutter something about "is that all it is" and then leave after a minute or so.
Felt sorry for the people who battled the Saturday and Sunday crowds for a look.
Nice shot even though you were a bit disappointed with it. Perhaps they had to turn the lights off because they were supposed to be here in secret, ha ha.
We had an American Galaxy aircraft land at Akrotiri when we were in Cyprus and because it was supposed to be secret at the time it landed with no landing lights. Typical Americans did they think that we couldn't hear it or even see it once it had landed. US logic I suppose.
