@888rachel Nah. It was Rhoda's b'day on 1 Mar, I was having a hernia op on 2 Mar, we wanted to have a few days at the coast AND the surf was huge so we had 4 days at Rainbow Bay. The photo opportunities down there are brilliant. Would have been a great time and place for a photo walk.
What was the 100-400mm lens you bought? Was it to replace the ill fated Sigma?

@terryliv Hope you have recovered from your op. I thought Rhoda was having a hernia operation. Yes, the 100-400mm has replaced the sigma. A million times better.

@888rachel Jumped the queue and had mine first - even though I didn't even know I needed one until earlier this year.
Story on my Tamron 300mm lens: After witnessing the girl getting washed out of the pool on the Friday, the next day I was back down at the same vantage point and another young girl was heading out to the pool despite her parents trying to stop her. I did the good Samaritan thing and climed over some rocks to her parents and told them and the girl what had happened the previous day. Thankfully, the girl decided not to go out further.
Feeling very pleased with myself, I was climbing back to the path when the Tamron, slipped out of my backpack, fell about a metre onto the rocks and then rolled into a small crevice filled with sea water. ##**???!!##**** Fished it out as quickly as possible and retreated through all the onlookers who had witnessed what had happened and sat under a tree to curse the stupid girl. Should have let her stay out there.
Anyway, dried the lens off as best I could, attached it to the camera and tried to fire off a few shots. It still worked!!!!!! and has been going fine ever since. Phew!!!! Must say I was pretty impressed. Don't know if there will be any problems later on though.
