What Flower is That - Answer

It's the flower from the Blackboy or Grass Tree and the same plant as in yesterdays pics. (Grass Tree is now considered to be the more politically correct name). They are wonderful landscaping plants and are quintessentially Australian. They are extremely slow growing and a plant with a 1 metre trunk may be 200 years old. The botanical name is Xanthorrhoeaceae (say that quickly after a few beers).
Sam
They certainly are a great Australian plant! Is that a Honeyeater bird?

Great capture, and timing. In January I visited my brother in Perth, there was a huge black, i mean grass tree in his suburb that is over 1000 years old, it was pretty big.

Cool! Fav! We have desert plants that flower like this one. Agave (tequila) is one on the most common. My neighbor gave me a baby century plant at Christmas. It apparently takes 100 years to flower like this one once and then dies. I don't think I will see mine flower! lol!

Great motion capture. I'm guessing the Honeysucker spotted a Lorikeet to go hassle.

Great timing and I still think blackboy sounds better than grass tree even if it isn't pc these days.

@lhiphonesnaps Yeah Lauren, we have yakkas and agaves here also - in gardens I mean. They are a long way from my favourite plants though (hope I didn't offend anyone)

@terryliv hahaha! No offense taken! It looks more tropical in your garden. Serious desert here on the Sonora! Every bit on non weed green is nice here. My least favorite are the tumbleweeds. They are okay when green and out in the wild, but a bugger when they dry and tumble!!!

Nice take Terry! Love the plant!
