Disappearing

My grandfather gave me the sliderule when I was in high school. I received the calculator on my first day of my first software engineering job in 1986. The light powered battery still works. It only does math and hex calculations - that’s it. My phone is a little heavier and must be charged everyday, but it does so much more.

I never learned how to use a sliderule either. Those are tools of the past.

my sister had a slide rule at her school, but we had to work with a book of logarithmic tables

What a nice grouping ... and especially knowing that they have such personal significance. I've never figured out a slide rule...but difinitely still use notebooks like this and a calculator!
