This was so much more fun than I'd anticipated...I used 3 layers of clear tape over the flashlight of my phone...the first two layers were colored blue and the third was colored purple...and got a sort-of black light. Most images I took with that as the only light but then left the room light on as well, and liked the result even more.

That is a very cool effect. I’m trying to envision this setup. So you put the clear tape on your iphone flashlight (but could be any bright flashlight) and used that as your only light source until you turned the other lights on. Then you took a closeup with your other camera. Tricky setup, but sounds fun. Well done.
@shutterbug49 Thanks...and the setup was: in the bathroom (which has no windows so I can get it really dark), on the back of the toilet, I propped the phone, with flashlight on, against a roll of toilet paper to keep it upright and shining on the flowers, also on the back of the toilet tank. The camera was on a tripod with extension tubes added to get in close/macro. I focused with the room lights on, turned them off for most shots - which were basically blue with bits of fluorescent light - and then took some with the room lights on. The colored tape trick was from a youtube video. I colored the clear tape with markers...the first set, water soluble, didn't work...had to use sharpies or permanent markers. Can also do this with cellophane around a flash light, but has to be LED light to work. If you try, have fun!. And let me know how it goes!
