Not invented

The theme is things that were not invented in our teenage years. The idea of having a computer small enough to fit on our laps was inconceivable!! Yet, here we are today where we dont give it a second thought. Posted by @365anne
Love your composition, a bit Pac-Man-ish!!

Did you have a language lab at school?? That was height of technology for us ( the the huuuuge video player in the geography classroom!)

@365anne Fabulous photo of this innovative idea. I’m not sure computers were invented when I was a child and if so I know they were at least room size

@grammyn - computers were invented and in use by the time i was born 70 years ago, but they needed to be in a huge room and needed constant monitoring by people. that would be difficult to place on our laps.🤣

@30pics4jackiesdiamond - we had speech in high school but not in a speech lab. we relied on our teacher and the IPA alphabet for the sounds. by the time i was in college and took a special speech class in a speech lab, it held no interest for me because i already knew what there was to know. but you are right, that was the most technology we had 50 years ago and the dingy tired chemistry lab where we had to bring our own beakers and whatnots. and then of course there is the typing class and the heavy clanky corona smith typewriters. when i came to canada in 88 i had a 'state of the art' sony walkman with a cassette where i had to take the tab off the cassette as i was prone to recording people and lose the precious songs in the cassette. but what i still have in my possession is a thingamajigg that i could connect to a tape recorder and stick the other end on a phone and record the nasty party line's discussions.

as a teenager we had the son of a friend come to stay for a while and he built a computer while with us - literally. He used wood panels, did all the wiring etc, it was a large cabinet with tape reels spinning. There was no screen, it just spat out coded tape. I thought he was the most boring person I'd ever imagined after being fascinated for about 5 minutes and went back to play out in nature 😆

Great for the theme. It is so amazing that that is so much more powerful than the computer that guided men to the moon.

Lovely gray tones though out I especially like the background, it contrasts in texture yet holds the tone. And as far as reminiscing goes, I remember when we got our first record player...early 1950s from an uncle in the early electronics field...he lived in Texas and brought the record player and the record "Yellow Rose of Texas".
