@valpetersen is my Get Pushed Challenge partner this week. She challenged me with producing "a still life which includes intriguing shapes, shadows and reflections." This is what I came up with.
I knew almost immediately that I would be able to use the morning light in our breakfast nook, when the sun streams through the windows. But I was at a loss for any other part of it until the Missus suggested that one of her tea pots would be a good still life subject. As usual, she was right. I managed the rest of this shot (and yeah, I took the 'reflection' part pretty literally...I was going to use the mirror to shine reflected light onto the scene, but went with this).
The tea pot is the smaller one of two that my father-in-law bought for my mother-in-law. He was an officer in the British Army, and after WWII he was stationed in the part of India that is now Pakistan when he bought these. Exactly when, where and from whom is unknown, but thankfully they gave them to the Missus when she was still a teenager. They have been a part of our home decor since we got married in 1992.
@365anne Thank you! I prefer telling stories about the shots I'm posting. I feel they give far more depth to the pictures, and the teapots are a small story worth telling.
Nailed it! The Missus is right and I love the idea to use and tell the story of those items collecting dust otherwise. The intriguing shapes come from that old stuff, well done Tim.
