I opened the front door to go get our mail and found this garden spider weaving its web across the doorway. Being a nature lover I opted to go out through the garage to get the mail, but I did take my camera with me to get this shot.
Based on the descriptions of garden spiders, this is a female, due to its large size. I have therefore named her Gabby the Guardian Garden Spider. I have little doubt that she will deter any baddies or ne'er-do-wells wanting to come in through the front door.
