Whenever I’m in this part of the city I tend to walk on the other side of the road, so haven’t previously noticed how lovely this building is. It is a swanky restaurant now but I looked up it’s history:
-
A Grade II listed building, built in 1902 by William Henman and Thomas Cooper for the Scottish Union and National Insurance Company. Aberdeen granite, appropriately, and limestone, with inset bands of red brick. Two-storey centre with big semicircular oriel and fine original railing, clamped between three-storey towers with tapering tops, ogee caps and tall finials.
