Welcome to Birmingham by tinley23

Welcome to Birmingham

A four mile trek south-west along the Grand Union Canal from Spaghetti Junction brings you to the Jewellery Quarter on edge of the city centre.
I only found out about the jewellery quarter last weekend. I had to drag Dawn away to go to the Wellington pub.

@brianm Haha - the Wellington is a good call. A proper pub. Hope you enjoyed your day here.

The canal system in Birmingham really surprised me when we went to a concert in the centre.

@happypat Ah yes, it’s huge. It had to be really as we are high above sea level and don’t have a substantial river, so needed a convenient way to move all the goods when industry really took off here in Victorian times. I guess we take them for granted a bit…but we are getting better at living and socialising all around them now.
